The Mayor of Amajuba District Municipality, Cllr Dr Musa Ngubane, & Newcastle Municipality Mayor, Cllr Adv Makhosini Nkosi yesterday the 1st January 2019 visited the Newcastle Provincial Hospital.
The aim of the visit was to welcome & celebrate the babies (babies born on the the 1st January 2019).
The visit is not just a session to share gifts with the babies but it is part of the government’s commitment and obligation to monitor the health institutions and ensure that communities receive the best possible service.
Amongst issues our Mayors looks into during this visit are: whether the mothers were attending clinic, they got all the required assistance, the patients’ transportation, teenage pregnancy, family planning etc.
The Mayors further met the staff who were on duty and thanked them for their sacrifices and wished them well in the new year.
