Mpumalanga Province legendary photographer who hails from Bushbuckridge – Cde Sam Nzima is no more.
He is well acclaimed for his iconic as well as internationally-renowned picture that he took of Hector Peterson who was shot by the brutal apartheid police force and was seen by the whole world carried by Mbuyisa Makhubo in 1976 during the Soweto Uprisings.
This humble photojournalist is gone but his revolutionary memories and good legacy will forever live on as well as remain with us for many more generations to come, not only for them to see his outstanding work, but to also learn about our painful history to attain freedom and democracy.
Sam Nzima was also the veteran leader of our people and the congress movement in Bohlabelo Region as well as in the Province in his own right.
May his soul rest in eternal peace
