The KZN Department of Health will be launching a mobile application and WhatsApp number for the public to lodge complaints, and express their gratitude in cases of service excellence. This was announced by MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu during the presentation of 136 brand new ambulances at iLembe district.
Prior to the uunveiling of these ambulances, the MEC held a community engagement that will be aired on Gagasi FM next week. Community members expressed their gratitude about the new ambulances and cconcerns about about their client experience at public health facilities. Details of the complainants were recorded and will be followed up by public officials.
“There are many hard-working healthcare workers as you yourselves have told us today. Unfortunately there are those who tarnish the name of the Department of Health and they must be found out. That’s why we are launching an app soon that will allow you to report to us immediately when you’re not happy. We are also looking to find an alternative for those without smartphones. You have a right to excellent healthcare and you have a right to complain.”
The MEC is on an ongoing quest to lobby for funding that will address the shortage of healthcare professionals.
