South Africa has decided to withdraw from the International Criminal Court following a dispute last year over a visit by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir who is wanted by the tribunal for alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane issued the notice yesterday.
Minister Masutha says a written notice to withdraw from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court has been submitted to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
