The National Youth Development agency has called upon learners who are currently doing grade 12 not to be destructed by what’s happening at the institutions of higher learning and training as they intensify their #FeesMustfFall protests.
The message comes at the time where the agency issued a call for applications for the Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship fund which closes on the 20th January next year.
The Fund aims to address the challenge of youth unemployment, access to education, among many other challenges.
This move was informed by studies which suggested that salary remains the main source of income for young South Africans.
To support this new strategic focus, the NYDA established the Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship Fund (SMSF).
The R20-million fund seeks to avail financial support to youth to enable them to pursue quality education in an institution of higher learning.
NYDA CEO Khathu Ramukumba says he remains hopeful that government and protesting students will soon find a solution hence they urge learners to apply for the scholarship
