Sergeant TP Mdluli from Newcastle FCS Unit  recently  sent a loud and clear message to the “WOULD BE CRIMINALS AND RAPISTS.

On 27 February 2019  five victims were sleeping in their rental house at Madadeni Township. All victims were learners at Amajuba TVET College-Madadeni Campus. Two suspects broke open their room  and went into their bedrooms  whereby two victims were robbed of their cellphones and cash then the other suspect entered into  another room and robbed three victims also of their  cash and cellphones one victim informed suspects that she did not have money but was stabbed on her thigh the other victim was taken to an unoccupied bedroom and was raped .Suspects thereafter packed their clothes into their travel bag and went off. Both suspects had their faces covered with balaclavas.

The ever hardworking Sergeant Mdluli was assigned docket and started her investigation on the very same night. Sergeant Mdluli  arrested the first suspect at Madadeni Section 5 on 26 March 2019 and  she together with her colleagues Captain Moothilal (Newcastle FCS),Sergeant Mthimkhulu, and Constable Mbatha proceeded to Volkrust in Mpumalanga Province and managed to arrest the second suspect and all stolen property recovered from both suspects.

At Pietermaritzburg High Court two suspects pleaded guilty and were thereafter found guilty as charged. They were convicted and sentenced  on Wednesday 17 April 2019 as follows:

ACCUSED NUMBER 1- SANELE KHUMALO aged 25 from Madadeni Section 5 sentenced to 5 YEARS IMPRISONEMENT for HOUSE BREAKING  and 15 years for ROBBERY UNDER AGGRAVATING CIRCUMTSANCES (Total  years convicted-20years)

ACCUSED NUMBER 2- MANDLENKOSI MANANA aged 33  from Volkrust in Mpumalanga Province slapped with 5 YEARS IMPRISONMENT for HOUSEBREAKING and 15 years for ROBBERY UNDER AGGRAVATING CIRCUMTSTANCES and a further 15 years for RAPE (Total  years convicted-35 years)

Sergeant Mdluli managed to  track down this high profile case within a period of two months and this is a clear message that criminals can RUN but cannot HIDE because the arm of the law is  very  long. Amajuba Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Sumayela commended the excellent investigation by Sergeant Mdluli
