It is always potentially an anxious moment when you know you have to prepare for a new job interview. However, here are a few useful tips to make sure you are as ready as you can be to do a great interview…

1.As a potential employee, you need to demonstrate to a potential employer that you can think on your feet. No one will be able to answer every single question put forward in an interview situation, but you have to be able to think carefully and do the best you can with what you know. Do not under any circumstances make things up if you are unsure or feeling under pressure. Creatively, make a comparison of how you approach a task in a manner that is perhaps slightly different. If you want to pause for a moment to think about a response, feel free to do so as it shows maturity, intelligence and composure – however, do not pause for very long periods of time.

2.Body and facial language can communicate just as much to a potential empower as what you are actually saying verbally. This is because your true thoughts and attitudes can be reflected in your body and facial language. The more positive you feel about the interview and your abilities, the more likely this will be reflected in your body language and will give a very distinct impression to your interviewer of your personality.

3.Be prepared to ask the interviewer questions because this is where your research comes in. Employers want to know if you are really interested in the position and the company or organization. They also need to know you have all the information needed to make a decision if offered the job. However, be warned against being seen to turn the tables and start interviewing the interviewer. It is a good idea to go into the meeting with a few questions in mind – that shows interest, good preparation and a mature approach to the interview process. It will also give you a chance to learn more about the business, the position, the requirements and the expectations of the job.

4.Most importantly, plan to arrive minutes before the actual time agreed upon. Late arrival is inexcusable and shows you don’t really need the job. If you are running late due to unforeseen circumstances, then make a phone call. Use clear language, speak slowly and carefully to make sure that your words are understood.

5.Lastly, your response about previous work experience must corroborate the information you have included in your CV. There must be no discrepancies or inconsistencies in information.
