School FM will be launching its very own student operated school online radio station in Amajuba District soon and the station will host it’s first workshop, inviting students into School FM studio to teach them about a range of roles involved in radio production, how the studio works and work towards putting together a trial show.
School FM is a Student Operated School Online Radio Station which will allow students to broadcast school news,events,music and more with internet broadcasting platform on www.schoolfm.co.za / schooolfm.radiostream321.com and on smartphone mobile app.
The station will give students the opportunity to present shows on our platform on weekends, school holidays and after school (weekdays). to develop their confidence, their creative skills, and their practical learning skills. Every student from Primary School ,High School and College can be part of the School Based Broadcasting Program.
Siyabonga Mthethwa , founder and manager of School FM, said that “the initiative offers a platform for children and youth to create, enhance and share their voices with the world through the power of radio. Not only they will get experience behind the mic but they will go Beyond.This means they will be given the opportunity to use their creative skills to not just entertain people but to make a real difference in their lives”,he said.
Siyabonga Mthethwa is hoping to establish the project to link in with the Kwa-Zulu Natal Department of Education’s schools programme.
An event for the launch of School FM will take place at the school in Madadeni soon. Launch day will be filled with fun , with entertainment,live broadcast, competitions and local artists and DJ’s entertaining.

School Newspaper to be launched | Isambane News
School Newspaper will be launched in Amajuba District soon. The paper is an A3 colour educational school newspaper and it will be produced by Isambane News and distributed across Amajuba District. It will be released every month and distributed through various schools, shops, public institutions in and around Amajuba District. Complimentary copies will be distributed to advertisers. The publication will be also available online – www.schoolfm.co.za/schoolnews
Students ,youth and other members of the community will use school newspaper to practice their writing skills and to exchange information and ideas. School newspaper also offers members of the community an opportunity to get skills in journalism. photography, computer literacy etc
Siyabonga Mthethwa , founder and manager of School Newspaper, said that “ The whole aim of school newspaper is to keep everyone up-to-date with the many things going on around schools, including upcoming events, student achievements, success stories,opinion pieces and more. We will build a strong team of students around schools to make up a core editorial team responsible for sourcing and writing news stories from around school and putting them together into a professional-standard newspaper.We want to bring something to the students that would be a platform for everyone to have content that represents them and also have something that would give them identity and would help everyone stay up-to-date on what’s going on around the school”,he said.
“It’s a way for students’ voices to be heard that maybe otherwise wouldn’t be,” noted Siyabonga. “We hope it will bring more representation and bring more equality to more people who maybe feel like they’re not getting that at school. Maybe the newspaper will be a place where they can get that.”
All students,teachers,parents and members of the community a are being encouraged to support this newspaper by sending in story suggestions ahead of the release of the school newspaper edition.
Schools Newspaper is planning to have a training for those who are keen to acquire skills in print & online media journalism – Acquire skills in Editing, Interview, Language: Writing , Photography , Content Development , Media Ownership : starting a media company,getting sponsors and much more.
School Newspaper aims to build editors that will quickly learn about teamwork, leadership skills, managing different personalities, and how to motivate writers to stay on deadline.
Print costs associated with the school newspaper will be absorbed from schools and on community members by selling a newspaper.
